Antalya hosts many tourists every year with its beaches, climate, natural beauties, historical and cultural values.
According to the data of the Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism, 13 million 432 thousand 593 foreign tourists came to Antalya by air in 2022.
The city, which hosted approximately 9 million tourists in 2021, increased by 49 percent in 2022. Antalya, which hosted approximately 15.5 million tourists in 2019, which is considered to be a record year in tourism, was on the holiday route of tourists close to the number of 2019 last year.
In the ranking of the countries sending the most tourists to Antalya, Russia ranked first with a rate of 23.6%. Hosting 3 million 33 thousand tourists from Russia, the city hosted 2 million 826 thousand tourists from Germany, which ranks in the top 5, 1 million 147 thousand tourists from England, 765 thousand tourists from Poland and 443 thousand tourists from the Netherlands. In the top ten, respectively, Kazakhstan, Romania, Israel, Czechia and Denmark took place.
In addition, a significant increase was observed in the number of tourists from England, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Belarus last year.
In addition to the tourist numbers, there was an increase in income. Last year, earnings per person per night also increased from $80 to $98.
3 million 372 thousand 681 people visited the ruins and museums in Antalya, which also attracts tourists with its historical and cultural values.
Rıza Perçin, Chairman of the Mediterranean Region Representation Board of the Association of Turkish Travel Agencies, told Anadolu Agency (AA) that the 2022 figures make tourism stakeholders happy.
Expressing that they had a productive year, Perçin said, "This year's target is 17 million tourists (Antalya). For this, our travel agency friends continue their feverish work." said.
